The Office of the Attorney General is looking to extradite Cleofas Alberto Martínez Gutiérrez, known as "El Güero," the second in command of the Gulf Cartel.

Martínez Gutiérrez is accused of drug-related crimes, conspiracy, and money laundering.

The arrest for means of extradition order was issued by a court in Mexico City and executed in the federal prison of El Altiplano, in the State of Mexico, where "El Güero" currently is detained.

He was arrested on March 13 in Mexico City by the Federal Police with the aid of the Army intelligence units.

"El Güero" is considered the brains behind the roadblocks and clashes in the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, as well as one of the main operative leaders of the Gulf Cartel in the northern border area.
