A special judge found four of the five kids who violently killed six-year-old Cristopher a year ago guilty of his death when they were playing, pretending to kidnap and then torturing him.
After six months of research and expert evidence, it was determined that 15-year-old Jesús David will be sentenced to nine and a half year at a juvenile offenders center.
Thirteen-year-olds Valeria and Alma, and twelve-year-old Irving will spend three years as wards of the state, apparently confined to a child care center of the Family Development Institute.
Subsequently, they will face two years of supervised home detention, under the watch of local police. Finally, they will have to spend another year under home arrest, without any surveillance.
During their detention they will be subject to therapy and work with medical specialists.
The other teenager involved in the killing, 15-year-old Eduardo, was found unfit to go to trial.
The minors will also have to pay a compensation of US$18.500 to the mother of the boy and the judge also issued a reprimand to the parents of the young offenders.
During the development of the trial it was revealed that the kids wanted to recreate a kidnapping and took Cristopher as a victim, taking him to a remote are where they tortured and killed him, mutilating and burying the body, and then placing a dead dog above his makeshift grave to hide his smell.
The kids removed the eyes and lips of the child, strangled him and stabbed him in the back 23 times, despite the fact that two of them were his cousins.
The mother of Cristopher, Tania Mora, pointed out that the very same kids that killed her child participated in his search in order to hide the truth.
