A young woman was run over by a car while cycling south of Mexico City, in the district of Benito Juárez, becoming the third person involved in an accident of this sort on a single day.
The Department of Public Security of Mexico City reported that at 2:15 p.m. the woman identified only as 27-year-old Sofía was on board her bicycle when she was hit by a Volkswagen compact car.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the woman to a hospital west of the city.
The man on board the car was identified as a 60-year-old man and he will be charged with all the expenses of the young woman while she is in the hospital.
This morning, at 10:30 a.m., a grenadiers transport rammed a cyclist in central Cuauhtémoc district, while at 12:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man identified as Rogelio Andrés was hit by a car in the same area.
The incidents come after 21-year-old Montserrat Paredes was hit last Tuesday by a bus over main Reforma avenue, in the Miguel Hidalgo district.
