Marines report arrest of Guerreros Unidos leader

The Ministry of the Navy reported the arrest in San Juan del Río, Querétaro, of Adrián Jaimes Vences, also known as Adrián Jiménez Rodríguez and Gael Jaimes López , who is the presumed leader of the Guerreros Unidos cartel, which operates in the State of Mexico.

The arrest was executed by Marines last Monday in the neighbourhood of Fraccionamiento Las Rosas in San Juan del Rio, Querétaro, in response to a request by the Attorney General of the State of Mexico.

After an intelligence labor, the Navy detected the suspect on board a vehicle. When Vences realized that he had been located he used a gun against the Marines, who responded to the attack.

Vences was wounded, along a 65-year-old woman who also was in the vehicle.
