Mexican filmmaker Gabriel Retes , known for his extensive filmography , has passed away at 73.
was one of the most prominent and talented Mexican filmmakers. His 1977 film Paper Flowers entered the 28th Berlin International Film Festival ; his 1979 film Broken Flag entered the 11th Moscow International Film Festival, and his 1999 film A Sweet Scent of Death entered the 21st Moscow International Film Festival.
After his death was confirmed, Mexico’s Culture Ministry remembered the talented filmmaker :
