Guillermo del Toro announced the creation of the International Animation Center in Guadalajara, which will support local talent to create independent short film and movies.

“The industry is living through a unique moment, we are breaking with the model used to make animation because, for many years, there was only one structure to tell stories. In Guadalajara, we will create the International Animation Center, the CIA. The goal will be to create, from that point, series and movies with local talent to encourage the next generation of filmmakers. Their needs will become a business model for the connection between Guadalajara and the world,” said Del Toro.

This weekend, the Mexican filmmaker also announced the first two winners of the International Jenkins Del Toro Scholarship to study cinema.
