Former presidential candidate Gabriel Quadri may never win an election, but he would win a meme competition. Quadri took to social media to call on politicians to join him to "defeat the regime that is destroying the country." Gabriel Quadri made the petition to unlikely allies such as Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, Diego Fernández de Cevallos, Felipe Calderón, Margarita Zavala, Enrique Krauze, and Ernesto Zedillo. None of them responded to his request; however, social media users mocked him and created several memes.

19 contenders want to lead Morena

Sources said there could be up to 19 contenders to lead Morena , the ruling party. So far, the National Electoral Institute (INE) has registered 16 contenders and it will register three more today. Insiders said there are five main contenders: Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, Mario Delgado, Yeidckol Polevnsky, Alejandro Rojas-Díaz Durán, and Javier Hidalgo. The battle to lead the political party is going to be a tough one.
