On Wednesday, German carmaker Audi AG said that it will suspend production at its plant in Mexico’s Puebla state from March 23 through April 13 as COVID-19 hits global supply chains.

Audi
said in a statement it is lacking parts at its plant in Mexico, where it produces the Audi Q5 , because of the impact on supply chains. Moreover, the company is also having issues with the logistics to send vehicles.
The German carmaker suggested that the situation could be extended because it said the plant will halt its production for two weeks while the rest of the time will correspond to earlier scheduled vacations .

In a statement, Audi said that the COVID-19 pandemic caused “uncertainty regarding the supply of parts in Audi Group plants worldwide ,” which also happened in Mexico.
“After a deep analysis of this unprecedented moment, AUDI AG has decided to halt production at both of its Germany plants, as well as in Belgium , Hungary , and Mexico starting on March 23.”
