In February, Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra will arrive at the Royal Opera House in London to conduct The Winter's Tale , William Shakespeare ’s story of love and loss in Christopher Wheeldon’s ballet adaptation .

Alondra de la Parra made her Royal Ballet debut on the Company’s 2017 tour to Australia and she returns in the 2017/18 Season performing on February 13 , 15 , 16 , and 24 .

In 2017 , the Mexican composer began her term as Music Director of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra , making her the first ever Music Director of an Australian orchestra .

Alondra de la Parra gained widespread attention for her mesmerizing and vibrant performances and her commitment to Latin American composers .

She has worked with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras such as the Orchester de Paris , London Philharmonic , Tonhalle-Orchester , and São Paulo Symphony Orchestra , among others.

In 2004, she found the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas when she was only 23 years old.

She holds the distinction of being the first Mexican woman to conduct in New York City and she currently is an official Cultural Ambassador of Mexico .

The Winter's Tale becomes a fascinating dance drama in Christopher Wheeldon ’s ballet adaptation, with music by Joby Talbot .
