New Editor in Chief appointed at EL UNIVERSAL daily

The Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of EL UNIVERSAL , Juan Francisco Ealy Ortiz , named renowned journalist and former Deputy Managing Editor , David Aponte as the new Editor in Chief of the leading Mexican newspaper , while noted journalist Carlos Benavides was appointed Deputy Managing Editor of the Mexican daily.

The appointments were announced by Director General of EL UNIVERSAL , Juan Francisco Ealy Lanz Duret , who underlined that the main purpose of EL UNIVERSAL "is to serve Mexico by proving timely, accurate and balanced information, that promotes the strengthening of democracy in our country."

In a ceremony held in the newsroom of EL UNIVERSAL in Mexico City , earlier today, Director General Ealy Lanz Duret said that EL UNIVERSAL holds the first place in news websites in our country and that "our brand is valuable, renowned and respected and consequently our work does not allow for any sort of distractions: we have to work united, as a team, with passion, but above all with loyalty."

He noted that "the Director General of EL UNIVERSAL, as well as its CEO and Chairman of the Board, are committed to the creation of a National Anticorruption System that works towards the interests of all Mexicans."
