Rangers Football Club
made official the arrival of Mexican footballers Carlos "Gullit" Peña and Eduardo Herrera. The players have signed a contract for the next three seasons.
"Gullit" Peña, 27, from Guadalajara , and Herrera, 28, from Pumas UNAM , have become the seventh and eighth additions to Glasgow 's Protestant club for the 2017/2018 season.
"I have been waiting many years for this. I wanted to be part of a European football club and I hope I can contribute and help the team", Peña told the club's television network, Rangers TV.
On the other hand, Herrera, who had played for Pumas UNAM since 2007, also joined Santos Laguna for one year, where he met his coach in Rangers, Portuguese Pedro Caixinha .
"I will bring a lot of work, a lot of sacrifice and hopefully many goals," said Herrera during his presentation. "I'm very happy to be here, in such an important club, and I'm looking forward to starting the project. I didn't think twice when they called me, it's a great team, with a great history, and it's important for any player to be ambitious and reach a club like this.
"Pedro was important [in his decision to sign], he told me that if I wanted to join Rangers, I could. There's a lot of pressure in a club like this, but I have experience in the national team as well as important clubs in Mexico, so I am ready", he said. Counting “Gullit” Peña and Eduardo Herrera, they are now eight the additions to Caixinha's team: Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Fabio Cardoso, Daniel Candeias, Dalcio and Alfredo Morelos.
