The New York Police Department has ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack at this point and has confirmed that the driver has been arrested, however, investigations are currently underway.
The suspect in custody is already taking alcohol tests. The 26-year-old male has a record of driving while intoxicated according to officials.
The Consul General of Mexico in New York City, Diego Gómez Pickering, has made a hotline available, via twitter, for Mexicans with relatives in New York or fellow nationals who may need assistance on the matter: "If you need assistance, have knowledge of someone affected by the incident, or are currently located in Times Square and need further information on the matter please contact our emergency number 917 4592 143."
