Officials from the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas are coordinating efforts with Mexican officials to transfer four children in critical condition as a result of the San Pablito fireworks market blast that occurred yesterday afternoon.

Virginia Sendel, president of the Michou and Mau Foundation, said that the team in Galveston arrived at the Toluca International Airport in the State of Mexico to receive the first of the four children, who suffered third-degree burns on 40% of his body.

Mexico City's Ministry of Public Security said the child was transferred to the airport, around 50 miles southwest of Tultepec, in a Condor helicopter.

The Governor of the State of Mexico, Eruviel Ávila Villegas, said that at least three of the children who will be treated at the Shriners Hospital suffered third-degree burns on over 70% of their bodies.

So far, at least 32 people have died as a result of the massive explosion and fire at the fireworks market just outside Mexico City, and several people are still unaccounted for.

In addition, a total of 50 people were injured, 46 of who are currently hospitalized.

Another child suffered third-degree burns on 90% of her body and is currently in critical condition. However, due to her severe condition, hospital officials say she shouldn't be transferred to Texas for the time being. Her mother died in the explosion.
