Ex-Governor of Sonora, Guillermo Padrés, who's been on the run since October of this year, cannot be held at a federal prison as per court order despite the charges he's currently facing of corruption, extortion and embezzlement.
This morning, after he appeared on a live radio talk show where he announced that he would be turning himself in, Padrés' defense attorney appealed the arrest warrant with a higher court.
A federal appeals court in Mexico City issued a temporary suspension for his arrest warrant, which basically means that Padrés will not, for the time being, be held in a federal prison.
However, he will be held at a special holding cell that's used by Mexico's court system specifically for those awaiting trial.
