Sons of "El Chapo" distance themselves from ambush to military convoy

Iván and Alfredo Guzmán, sons to jailed drug lord “Chapo” Guzmán, distanced themselves as being responsible for the ambush that left five military men dead in the capital city of Culiacán in the state of Sinaloa, due to accusations received by commander Alfonso Duarte Mújica, who implied that the attack may have been ordered by the “Chapo’s” sons.

The Guzmán’s lawyer, José Refugio Rodríguez, called for an objective investigation and said the family feels sorry for the military men who died in compliance of their duty, as declared to journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva, who reproduced the Guzman brothers statements in his twitter account:"Not even at the time of our father’s arrest did we think of an attack of this nature”.

While commander Duarte regretted that "This was a coward attack as the military convoy did not stand a chance to defend themselves", he added that six of the remaining wounded military men are still in frail health.
