Guadalupe Tijerina, singer and accordionist for Los Cadetes de Linares died of a heart attack after a concert in San Luis Potosí last night.
The information was confirmed by the Mexican banda group on its official Facebook account.
On social networks, other banda singers like Alfredo Ríos, "El Kommander," regretted Tijerina's death.
"May a great Mexican musician rest in peace. Mr. #LupeTijerina my deepest condolences to your family and relatives," wrote Ríos.
According to Mexican Media, 69-year-old Tijerina died in Ciudad Fernández after a concert. Another member of Los Cadetes, Mario Mireles, reported that Tijerina was on stage when he felt ill. An ambulance was called and the band kept on playing thinking it was a momentary ailment.
Mireles added that they expect to take Tijerina to his native Nuevo León to be buried.
