More than a year of the disappearance of the 43 students from the teachers school in Ayotzinapa, their parents and supporters are marching over main Reforma avenue in demand of the return of the students and punishment for those guilty of the events unfolded between September 26 and 27 last year.
The march started in the monument of the Angel of the Independence and will end in the Monument to Benito Juárez, where the participants will hold a rally.
The protesters, under the cries of "we want justice" and "Ayotzi lives" demanded compliance with the 10 points of agreement recently signed with the Mexican government.
"For the parents there is no confidence in the institutions. The report from the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) gives us hope," said Melitón Ortega.
At the start of the march, with around 500 participants, Ortega expressed that the Mexican security apparatus, including the army, was aware of what happened on September 26 in Iguala.
He also said that the GIEI, the group of experts from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, must have access to the military members deployed in the area during the disappearance of the students.
"We want to tell you that we request and demand that the Mexican State punish the officers who wanted to hide the truth," he said.
