The head of the Executive Committee for the Care of Victims (CEAV), Jaime Rochin del Rincón, stated that the agency accepts the offer presented by the Interdisciplinary Group of International Experts (GIEI) to serve as an intermediary in the case of the 43 Ayotzinapa students, and is also ready to prepare a reparation process to their relatives.
In a meeting with Carlos Beristain, member of the GIEI, and in the presence of commissioners Julio Hernández de Barros and Adrian Franco Zevada, Rochin del Rincón expressed that the observations presented in the recent report "are critical for enforcing the rights of access to the truth and justice for the victims".
Last Sunday, the GIEI, which depends on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), released the results of an investigation conducted for six months based on official documentation and witnesses testimonies on to what happened in September 2014, when the 43 students from the Rural School "Raúl Isidro Burgos" disappeared.
In 550-pages documents, the experts express that there is no evidence that the youngsters were incinerated in the garbage dump of the city of Cocula, Guerrero.
Rochin del Rincón also said in a statement that the CEAV is ready to start the repair process to the families of the victims.
"The Commission is sensitive and agrees with being able to present the project for a repair plan initially to the families. The repair is a right, not a product of government largess, and does not imply in any moment that nobody leaves behind their struggles or renounce their rights to truth and justice," expressed Rochin del Rincón.
