The Mexican minister of Foreign Affairs, José Antonio Meade, expressed that the reopening of the embassies of Cuba and the U.S. in both nations represent "great news," after 54 years of strained relations between both nations.

"We are very happy, we think it's great news," expressed Meade to the press after attending to a lecture by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belize, Wilfred Peter Erlington, whom he met during his visit to Mexico.
