U.S. indicts 2,762 people for immigrant smuggling in one year

The U.S. Department of Justice indicted 2,762 people for human smuggling and hiding immigrants from October 2013 to September 2014.

Around 90% of those indictments against Mexicans, Hondurans, Guatemalans and Salvadorans were made in Texas (1,515), California (511), Arizona (394), Florida (75) and New York (31).

Between 2009 and 2014 the Department of Justice indicted more than 18,000 people for smuggling or retaining immigrants.
