Professional Mexican female wrestlers

will fight Violence Against Women in the country's capital on November 25 with a wrestling function and a self-defense workshop .

The show is coordinated by Lola González, Nina Hoechtl, and Natalia Millán , with the support of the Coordination of Cultural Diffusion, the University Museum of Contemporary Art and the Gender Unit. The ring will be set up outside the UNAM's Cultural Center.

The show is part of a program to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of Women's Wrestling in Mexico and the I nternational Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women , which is why a self-defense workshop will also take place.

This way, female empowerment will be celebrated through sport at a time when violence against women is a widespread problem in Mexico .

According to a statement, the project contributes to the incorporation of art and culture in the students' daily life, which also strengthens CulturaUNAM efforts to guarantee gender equality in the university.
