from the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) created a robot to take theater plays to children in hospitals or with disabilities , in order to bring culture closer to them.

The prototype , which won the second place during the 22nd Electric Engineering Week , organized by the UAM , says “Hello, I'm Robotino , I was created at the UAM Lerma, goodbye!”, followed by a bow.

The students, Ángeles Maciel and Saraí Ramírez are studying Art and Digital Communications in the Lerma campus, as well as Luz del Carmen Cabrera , who is studying Information Technologies and Systems, explained that this robot allows bringing children and young people closer to theater and to new forms of mechatronics and artificial intelligence.

Robotino

talks, moves its head and body, open and closes its mouth to say hello which was achieved by implementing a program called Reaper , which combines edited audio with the Arduino 's routine.

The students said the idea is to create technology with a human sense and help sick children to have fun, despite their illness , as many of them can't leave the hospital .

They will continue improving the project so it can interact with people, although the process will require funding and a lot of work before going to a contest in Jalisco in April 2019.
