Alfonso Cuarón’s latest film “Roma,” as well as “A Star is Born,” starring Lady Gaga, have been nominated for best picture at this year’s edition of the UK’s BAFTA awards, according to an announcement made by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts through their website.

Other nominees for the best film category are “BlacKkKlansman,” “The Favourite,” and “Green Book.”

The film by Alfonso Cuarón has been nominated for Best Film, Film Not in the English Language, Director, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, and Production Design.

Cuarón, Spike Lee (“BlacKkKlansman”), Pawel Pawlikowski (“Cold War”), Yorgos Lanthimos (“The Favourite”), and Bradley Cooper (“A Star is Born”) are competing for the award to best Director.

In its 72nd edition, the most important movie awards venue after Hollywood’s Academy Awards will be held at the Royal Albert Hall on February 10.

The nominees for Leading Actress are Glenn Close for her role in “The Wife,” Lady Gaga (“A Star is Born”), Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”), Olivia Colman (“The Favourite”), and Viola Davis (“Widows”).

As for the award for best Leading Actor, the nominees are Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Rami Malek, Vigo Mortensen, and Steve Coogan.

The nominees for best Original Screenplay are “Cold War,” “The Favourite,” “Green Book,” “Vice,” and “Roma,” which is the first film produced by Netflix to be nominated to a BAFTA award.
