The World's 50 Best Restaurants is a list that names the 50 best restaurants in the world . For years, Mexican chefs have been part of the list, and 2019 is no exception.

This year, five Mexican restaurants are on the list. Four are located in Mexico and one in New York .

Besides being named as the #12 best restaurant in the world, Pujol was also named as the best restaurant in North America .

The organization describes Enrique Olvera 's cuisine as a contemporary take on traditional Mexican cuisine and credits chef Olvera with “proving that rustic Mexican flavors deserve as much attention as any other haute cuisine in the world.”

This year, Cosme , Olvera's other restaurant is also on the list. Cosme is a modern Mexican restaurant in New York . This year it raised to #23 under the stewardship of The World’s Best Female Chef 2019, Daniela Soto-Innes .

Quintonil

The restaurant was named the #24 best restaurant in the world . Its menu uses local produce and showcases the best of Mexico and offers dishes such as crab tostadas with fresh radish and habanero chili mayonnaise, charred avocado tartare and escamoles, and cactus sorbet.

Nevertheless, these other two Mexican restaurants are among the best 120 best restaurants in the world .

Sud 777

The restaurant serves contemporary Mexican food and was listed as the #58 best restaurant in the world .

Alcalde

The restaurant is located in Guadalajara , in the state of Jalisco. This year, it was named as the #109 best restaurant .
