Eight years ago, Lynnette Marrero and Ivy Mix launched an event for talented female bartenders on the rise and inspire other women to become professional bartenders or work in the wine and spirits industry in the United States but this year, the contest is also taking place in Mexico .
Speed Rack
is an international cocktails contest that presents some of the best bartenders in the world . This is the first contest that emphasizes the talented generation of female bartenders who are taking over the spirits industry and awards those who make the best cocktails .
Moreover, a part of the profits generated by the event will be used for breast cancer education and prevention programs.
During its first Mexican edition , Speed Rack will take place on June 8 at Ladina Bar and Lucerna 32, where 12 Mexican bartenders will show their abilities, style, and creativity when creating cocktails .
The event will raise funds for FUCAM , an institution that helps breast cancer patients .
Paula García
, one of the event organizers, explained that “a part of the profits from the ticket sale will be donated to FUCAM to contribute in the acquisition of a truck to provide mammograms for low-income women . Also, Barra México guarantees a USD $5,000 donation .”
