Hundreds of families released white balloons from the highest point of the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range, early yesterday, after completing the Walk for Peace as organized by the Ministry of Defense (SEDENA) and the Ciudad Victoria city council.
The families were received in the entrance of the 77th Infantry Battalion military facilities where messages of peace and fraternity were given by Commander Brigadier, Sergio Hernando Chávez García, Colonel of Infantry, Anastasio Santos Valdéz, mayor Óscar Almaráz Smer and the delegate of the Ministry of Social Development, Lourdes Flores Montemayor.
“It is a great honor for the citizens of Ciudad Victoria to attend this event infused of a considerable symbolism, in the company of the members of the 77th Infantry Battalion of the Mexican Armed Forces”, expressed mayor Óscar Almaráz.
Attendees later walked from the battalion facilities to the top of the “El Aura” hill, where a monumental flag pol is located at 840 MSL. Here is where the white balloons were released as a symbol of peace and fraternity on behalf of all participants to the Walk for Peace.
