Mexican Finance Minister Luis Videgaray steps down

Luis Videgaray resigned from the Ministry of Finance, confirmed a spokeswoman to El Universal.

According to the spokeswoman, Claudia Algorri, Luis Videgaray will not take another public post.

President Enrique Peña Nieto has already accepted his resignation.

Sources familiar with the matter said that Videgaray will be replaced by José Antonio Meade, current head of the Ministry of Social Development and former finance minister.

The spokeswoman did not confirm the information.
