Body of climber found on Huascaran mountain, Peru

Mexican Foreign Affairs Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu said that a body of a climber was found on the Huascaran mountain in Peru, where Mexican alpinists Carlos Belkotosky and José Miguel Mendoza Paulí were swept away by an avalanche.

“We were told that a body was found but its identity has not been confirmed yet.” the head of the foreign ministry said.

At a press conference, she said that “we have been in touch with the families of the climbers and also with the Peruvian authorities” after the slide that hit the Mexican climbers and their Peruvian guides.
