Almost a year after the murder of Cristopher Marquez Mora, killed by five minors in Chihuahua who were “playing to kidnap him”, a judge sentenced the last of those involved in the incident.

Eduardo, 15, was committed to a mental institution after it was determined that he has a moderate degree of mental retardation. His reasoning and behavior in general correspond to an 8-year-old. He will remain there for four years under the tutelage of the Integral Family Development System (DIF) .

Cristopher, 6, was killed last year by five children; three of them were his cousins.

The statements of the children, aged 11, 13 and 15 years, revealed that they did not intend to kill him, but that they decided to do so after the victim started bleeding and they realized they had wounded him seriously.

José González Nicolás, Chihuahua attorney general, explained a year ago that the children hit Cristopher with stones on the head, stabbed him, put a plastic bag on his head and buried him.

Cristopher's mother, a widow, had to work long hours to support the child and a younger brother who suffers from hydrocephalus, so she left the children alone in the evenings.

As for the other children involved in the murder Jesús David, 15, was sentenced to 9 years in jail, while Valeria and Alma, 13, and Irving, 12, will spend three years in seclusion, apparently at a DIF shelter. Later they will remain two years under police supervision and one year under house arrest. The children will receive psychological treatment for all the six years.
