Mexican actor Pedro Weber dies at 82

Mexican actor Pedro Manuel Weber Chávez, better known as "Chatanuga," died at 82 due to heart and pulmonary failure, as reported by his friends.

Actor Alfonso Zayas and Maricarmen de la Peña, daughter of comedian Eduardo de la Peña, "El Mimo," confirmed the death of the Weber Chávez, who just a few weeks ago was hospitalized for a variety of health problems, but was discharged and was resting at his home.

Zayas informed that he was on the way to Weber's house to see him when he was informed that the actor had just died, around 11:00 p.m.

Maricarmen of the Peña said that the daughters of the actor, Vanessa and Stephanía told her about his death, due to cardio-pulmonary failure.

His funerals will be held south of Mexico City. His last work was in the Mexican movie "En el Último Trago" (In the last drink), as well as some soap operas.

He worked in cinema, theater and television, but became well known in the so-called "ficheras" movies, which chronicled the misadventures of poor people and prostitutes.

Before being an actor, he worked for four years in the psychiatric hospital of La Castañeda.

He was also the master of ceremonies in a series of festivals promoted by a Mexican brewing company and worked for three years as stage-manager for the Madison Square Garden.
