Mexico's National Commission on Minimum Wages
( Comisión Nacional de los Salarios Mínimos abbreviated Conasami ) issued a resolution effecting an increase in the Daily General Minimum Wage ( DGMW ) applicable for Mexico effective on December 1, 2017.
The DGMW will increase from MXN$ 80.04 to MXN$ 88.36 .
Even though the Employers Confederation of the Mexican Republic ( Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana abbreviated Coparmex ) reiterated its request to promote a DGMW increase to MXN$ 95.24 pesos , which would reach the Welfare Line indicated by the National Council for Evaluation of Social Development Policy ( Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social abbreviated Coneval ), the increase was not accepted.
According to Coparmex, this decision reflects a "limited" progress since MXN$ 88.36 only cover 92.76% of the Welfare Line, yet it can be considered a progress since the current DGMW covered 84% .
On Twitter , Gustavo de Hoyos , President of the Coparmex wrote in Spanish: “The General minimum wage should reach the welfare line. The increase of MXN$ 80.04 to MXN$ 88.36 agreed today with Consami is a limited step . We didn't reach MXN$ 95.24 to leave the poverty threshold behind. We remain in debt with millions of Mexicans.”
