Deputy director of Villamar police murdered in Michoacán

Francisco Barajas Bautista, deputy director of Villamar police department in Michoacán, was ambushed and shot dead by unknown assailants early yesterday while performing police surveillance patrols in the Emiliano Zapata community. Along with Barajas Bautista was Jesús Maciel Andrade, police commander on duty, who died instantly.

These murders follow the killing of deputy director of Sahuayo police department last October 30, adding up to three police commanders killed in the state of Michoacán in less than a month.

Police patrols surveillance and inspection filters in the area of the crime scene, are currently underway in the municipality of Villamar and neighboring areas, including those in the state of Jalisco.
