They forgot about AMLO in La Havana

The end of the talks in the Sao Paulo Forum in La Havana, Cuba, was notorious, with the presence of left-wing leaders from the region. In fact, the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel; Nicólas Maduro from Venezuela; Evo Morales, Bolivia; from El Salvador, Salvador Sánchez; were all present. They made a statement about the progress of the right in Latin-America, Cristina Fernández's election loss, the “persecution” against the former Presidents of Ecuador and Brazil: Rafael Correa and Luiz Ignacio Lula Da Silva, among other topics. What they failed to mention was the overwhelming triumph of the leftist Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Did they forget about it?

They see a winner in Roberto Gil

A few days ago, PAN governors were cautious about the suitors that start showing up to fight for the party's presidency, to substitute Damián Zepeda. But the circumstances have changed, we're told, and some governors start to see a winner in the Senator with a leave of absence, Roberto Gil. They think he should compete for the party's leadership, along with the Coahuila Congressman, Luis Fernando Salazar, who would run for the General Secretariat. Inside and outside the PAN, they point out, that Mr. Roberto is considered as a politician with arguments, that knows how to listen and knows how to reach reliable agreements. Gil hasn't said no, and in politics, nothing is written…

Murat drowns his sorrows in Moscow

We're told that former Oaxaca Governor, José Murat, is still in Moscow to forget about the PRI's collapse, as he's accused of contributing to it in a great manner. We're told that Mr. José is not alone, he's accompanied by his dear friend, Pedro Haces Barba, a former PRI member involved in the diverting of public resources during Javier Duarte's administration, who's now without sin thanks to Morena's protection, as a substitute for Germán Martínez Cázares, who might leave his position as a Senator, as Mr. Germán is nominated by Andrés Manuel López Obrador as the next IMSS director. The PRI members are also asking themselves if at the end of the day Murat was closer to Morena than to Meade.

The INE and the MXN $108,000 salaries

The moment of truth has arrived for the electoral counselors of the INE. We're told that this Wednesday, during a General Council's session, the budget committee will be designated, led by Claudia Zavala, who will be responsible for coordinating the efforts to determine the figure the INE will ask for in 2019, the first year of Andrés Manuel López Obrador's administration. It was pointed out to us that it will be interesting to see if they feel the same way about the austerity plan proposed by the next President, especially regarding to no one earning more than the President, because in the INE, the counselors and a large number of officials earn more than the maximum established by López Obrador.
