In order to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, Tourism Ireland created “Global Greening”, a celebration where dozens of countries light up their most iconic monuments with a green light in honor of Ireland.

Tourism Ireland announced that in 2019, Mexico would join the initiative, along with 300 countries.

In Mexico City, the Angel of the Independence was light up from March 11 to 17; the Revolution Monument, the Palm roundabout, and Colón Monument, and the Diana Cazadora monument will be light up on March 17 at 7 P.M.

Monuments in Puebla, Guadalajara, and Playa del Carmen will also be light up.

Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17. In Mexico, it has been celebrated for many years to honor the Saint Patrick's Battalion, who fought along the Mexican army in the war between Mexico and the U.S. in 1846.

Cultural organizations and pubs offer different activities to celebrate Ireland in Mexico City.
