, the former leader of the teacher's union known as , won a lawsuit against the Tax Administration Service ( SAT ) and won’t have to pay MXN over $19 million in income tax from 2008 and 2009.

On January 22, the Federal Administrative Justice Tribunal annulled the resolution issued by the SAT, as the government department didn’t allow the former union leader the guarantees to argue in her favor.

In late 2013, the SAT accused of failing to disclose income for MXN $7,883,606.65. The alleged income that was not reported to Mexican authorities was unveiled through transactions and credit card payments at high-end stores in the U.S.

The former SNTE leader ’s lawyers argued that the expenses had been paid by the teacher’s union since Gordillo was representing them and she has to look impeccable during public events.

The transactions were made to cover purchases at stores such as Neiman Marcus , Christian Dior , Chanel , Roberto Cavalli , Gucci , Bulgari , Louis Vuitton , Salvatore Ferragamo , Giorgio Armani , among others.

Documents obtained by EL UNIVERSAL show Elba Esther Gordillo stayed at luxury hotels in Beverly Hills , had her hair done at a beauty salon in Rodeo Drive and purchased jewelry at Montblanc .

That same year, Gordillo was and accused of USD $160 million in union funds to pay for everything, including mansions , designer clothes , and plastic surgery .

During the trial against her, the SAT seized five properties in Mexico City: a ranch, land and an apartment, an exclusive neighborhood in Polanco , and another home.

Gordillo

led the teacher’s union for decades until her arrest and incarceration . She is best known for her eccentricities , luxurious properties in Mexico and abroad, and her expensive wardrobe .
