Blanca Margarita Cazares was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in 2007 for her “sophisticated money laundering apparatus” and links to Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada García and Víctor Emilio Cazares of the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to reports, the bride’s brother, Ovidio Guzmán, was present at the wedding. In October 2019, the Sinaloa Cartel launched shooting, attacks, and blockades to force authorities to free Ovidio Guzmán, who had been detained by security forces.

The wedding took place on January 25. Photographs and videos were shared on social media, which showed the performance of singer Julión Álvarez and the band Calibre 50, as well as fireworks, and yellow tape around the cathedral to forbid people from entering the private ceremony.

A source at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Culiacán confirmed the wedding took place but declined to provide details.

The Sinaloa Cartel is now led by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s sons, known as “Los Chapitos”, Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, and other associates.

Meanwhile, his daughter Alejandrina has been capitalizing on El Chapo’s fame with the launch of the “El Chapo 701” clothing brand last year. In January 2020, she launched an “El Chapo” beer.
