Criminals steal gold bars worth $8 million in Sonora

On November 8, armed men robbed an armored vehicle from company Sepsa , which transported 47 dore bars owned by mining company Penmont , part of the Fresnillo PLC consortium. The dore bars are worth between USD $6 and $8 million.

According to official information, the events took place in the Caborca-Sonoyta highway .

Unofficial reports say that armed men intercepted the vehicle transporting the dore bars . The criminals attacked the three passengers before stealing the gold bars .

Authorities in Sonora have yet to provide more details on the case.
