On November 8, armed men robbed an armored vehicle transporting the gold bars

On November 8, armed men robbed an armored vehicle from company Sepsa, which transported 47 dore bars owned by mining company Penmont, part of the Fresnillo PLC consortium. The dore bars are worth between USD $6 and $8 million.

According to official information, the events took place in the Caborca-Sonoyta highway.

Unofficial reports say that armed men intercepted the vehicle transporting the dore bars. The criminals attacked the three passengers before stealing the gold bars.

Authorities in Sonora have yet to provide more details on the case.

What is dore?

Dore bars are a semi-pure alloy of gold and silver. They are usually created at mines and then transported to a refinery, where they are purified. These bars are usually 80% pure gold.
