In closing the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Mexico City, fashion designer Alfredo Martínez presented his proposal for Spring/Summer 2019 at the former Convent of San Hipólito.

Under an atmosphere of mystery and femininity, the designer from Jalisco presented clothes inspired by the 1980s fashion icon Gloria Guinness, a beacon of the fashion industry, known for her incredible taste in clothes.

Backstage, the models and designers were filled with anticipation while the crowd’s murmurs accompanied the music. When the runway show started, everyone fell silent and the models dazzled the attendants with their prowess. This is how producers, reporters, assistants, volunteers, and music mixers experienced the last day of the Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week.

Alfredo Martínez offered 30 new looks: “For powerful, free women such as Gloria,” he stated a few minutes before the show.

The show featured 80s outfits, shoulder pads, sequins, and monochromatic tones that were reinvented with a nostalgic vibe. Night gowns with a sporty flare make Alfredo’s Athleisure outstanding, combining comfort and luxury in perfect harmony.

“I was inspired by the mines of Naica,” commented Alfredo about his show while he adjusted the belt and fixed the shoulders of a model wearing red.

Cory Crespo, director of the Coloürs Agency and Johann Mergenthaler, creative director of MBFWMx closed the latest edition of the national fashion week.
