“David”, one of the great Renaissance masterworks is featured as one of the thirteen art works that make up the exhibition which opened today in the Art Gallery of the Municipal Palace in Puebla, with replicas of Michelangelo’s sculptures.

The exhibition displays real size, majestic sculptures all made in Italy and which are shown in Latin America for the first time. The 16-foot-tall effigy of “David” is one of the most valued and famous sculptures around the world and is one of the main art works of the show, which will be completed with similar masterpieces such as “Moses”, Bandini’s “Pietá”, Vatican’s “Pietá” and Rondandini’s “Pietá”.

The over 6-foot-tall “Dying Slave”, “Bearded Slave”, and the “Dying slave’s breast” are also featured, along with bas-reliefs of the “Battle of the Centaurs” and the “Maddona of the Stairs”,as well as the “Pitti “ and “Taddei” tondi.

The organizers feel this is a unique opportunity to make Michelangelo’s facets as sculptor, painter, architect and poet known to the public as the exhibition includes an interactive program that will allow the public to have access to Michelangelo Buonarroti’s art techniques until February 22, 2017 in Puebla.
