The Attorney General of the state of Nuevo León, Roberto Flores Treviño, confirmed the killing of nine men inside a house in a posh neighborhood of the municipality of Apodaca.
Earlier reports indicated that 10 people were killed, but the authorities rectified that figure.
Governor Jaime Rodríguez Calderón conducted a press conference providing details about the incident in the Valle San Miguel, reported to the area police at 12:15 a.m. Sunday.
The governor, known as "El Bronco," said that it was too early to say if the killing is the result of a vengeance among criminals, but apparently the house where the incident happened was used for the sale and consumption of drugs among young people.
Attorney Flores Treviño added that no firearms were used in the killing and the victims had their hands and feet tied, with at least seven of them killed by hanging and the rest knifed to death.
Flores Treviño added that four of the victims had been identified, but their identities would not be released until they are fully confirmed.
