Rosa Isela Guzmán Ortiz, who claims to be the eldest daughter of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, agreed to be subjected to a DNA test in order to confirm her relationship with the drug kingpin.
Guzmán Ortiz reacted to a letter sent to international media by the current wife of Guzmán, Emma Coronel, who claimed that neither her or her family have any idea who she is, as reported by British newspaper The Guardian.
Last week, Rosa Isela was interviewed by the online edition of The Guardian and said that her alleged father financed the electoral campaigns of several Mexican politicians and that he visited the United States twice, while he was being hunted by the Mexican and U.S. governments.
In the letter sent by the lawyer of Coronel, José Refugio Rodríguez, Emma says that "El Chapo" told her that Rosa Isela began to send him letters in 2015, claiming that she was his daughter, but Guzmán Loera denied it and pointed out that he corresponded with her out of "pure courtesy".
The letter adds that the sisters of "El Chapo," Armida and Bernarda, were unaware of the existence of Rosa Isela and rejected any links with her and her declarations, among them the alleged financing to Mexican politicians and the betrayal of his partner in the Sinaloa cartel, Ismael Zambada, "El Mayo".
