Meet Rius, whose legacy lives on

Rius left us the "Bible of the caricature", according to college Boligán

Eduardo del Río "Rius" was a Mexican self-taught caricature artist famous for his criticism of the Catholic Church and the Mexican neoliberalism (Germán Espinoza/EL UNIVERSAL)
He worked in the weekly children's supplement by EL UNIVERSAL called "Mi Mundo" (My World) in 1977, for 31 consecutive Sundays (Newspaper library EL UNIVERSAL)
Rius was famous for his comic books "Los Agachados" (The Submissives) and "Supermachos", where he explored the social issues of Mexico (Taken from EL UNIVERSAL TV)
In "Supermachos", the protagonist was Juan Calzónzin, a very knowledgeable indigenous man who was well-versed in philosophy and global politics (File photo/EL UNIVERSAL and AMAZON)
