Street artist Banksy, whose real name is not known, says the hotel has the worst view of any in the world: every room overlooks the barrier which is a symbol of oppression for the Palestinians.

The artist's biggest project in two years, Banksy's statement said that the hotel "offers a warm welcome to people from all sides of the conflict from across the world."

Hotel manager Wissam Salsa said the hotel is fully booked until June this year, with guests coming from various countries such as the UK, the US, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, and Finland.

For her part, Bethlehem Mayoress, Vera Baboun, said that the hotel comes as an "important touristic addition" to the city.

The Walled Off Hotel will bring attention to the effects of the Israeli occupation of Cisjordania commencing in June 1967, after the Six-Day War.
