Each year, the Pacific turns into a refuge for humpback whales , as the Mexican waters offer the ideal conditions for their reproduction and the birth of a new generation of cetaceans .

The migration phenomenon can be contemplated in Puerto Vallarta, one of the best locations for whale watching . The official whale watching season begins in December and ends in March .

These giants give spectators an amazing show: jumps, fluttering, and singing can be seen and heard just a few feet away from the boat , or 200 to 500 meters away from the coastal strip. Sometimes it's visible from your hotel room.

There are several touristic agencies that offer this experience , nevertheless, before you go whale watching, make sure the boat has a federal permit issued by the SEMARNAT , in order to guarantee the respect of the whales ' vital space.

The tour prices range from MXN $1000 to MXN $2,500 per person.
