Tropical Storm "Norma" 150 miles from Mexico

Norma set to southern Baja California Sur through early Saturday and expected to become hurricane in 36 hours

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported earlier today that Tropical Storm Norma is about 150 miles (240km) southeast of eastern-Pacific volcanic Socorro Island, Mexico.

Norma

is bound north and is expected to continue in this motion through early Saturday, September 16 at a 40 mph (65kph) rate.

People in Baja California Sur are cautioned to monitor progress of the storm, as updates from the Mexico Coordinator of Civil Protection , Luis Felipe Puente, indicate that Tropical Storm Norma stands at 395 miles (635 km) from Cabo San Lucas , with additional potential impacts forecasted in the capital city of La Paz .

Norma 

is expected to become hurricane through Sunday, September 17.
