Rupture inside the INE

Yesterday, the National Electoral Institute ( INE ) tried to end the polemic about the trust fund “Por los demás” , by reaching out to Andrés Manuel López Obrador . Now the Electoral Tribunal has the last word. The president and counselor, Lorenzo Córdova read a message about “unity” around the case tha t sparked off arguments between the counselors and the President-elect. Nevertheless, the absence of 3 counselors during the message, showed that there might be a rupture inside the INE . José Roberto Ruiz Saldaña , who voted against the MXN $197 million fine , was among the missing counselors. Pamela San Martín and Dania Ravel Cuevas didn't attend either. The act of “unity” has left many doubts about how convinced is everyone at the INE about the fine.

They say that they expect the INE to approve the audit reports and that the Electoral Tribunal holds an immediate session to deliver the majority certificate , what will allow the formal start of the transition process , although said process is taking place in several offices in an informal way.

Delgado y Gómez in the last leg of the race for San Lázaro

In the last leg of Morena's parliamentary coordinator election in the Chamber of Deputies are Mario Delgado and Pablo Gómez . The two politicians, we're reminded, have previous experience as leaders of Congress . We're told that one of them was looking to lead PEMEX but will stay in the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro to look for the leadership of the Morena bench. The other wants to occupy a position in a governmental office inside the Chamber of Deputies or at least the leadership of the Morena bench. We're told that the only “ but ” about Mr. Pablo is that he took part in the negotiations of the "Pacto por México" in January 2013 , representing the PRD . Will his yellow past turn into an impediment and Mr. Mario will beat him? Will there be a second or third in discord?

Gustavo Madero, going uphill in the Senate

During these days when the Congress's parliamentary coordinators are being defined , there are parties like the PAN , who haven't managed to solve their internal conflicts and have a dispute over the control of their benches in both chambers . Who is being nominated to coordinate the PAN Senators is Gustavo Madero , who argues that he knows the Senate well and also, the one who is on his way to be Morena's coordinator, Ricardo Monreal because they were together in the Senate before. Nevertheless, some of the others interested in the position say that Mr. Gustavo would be seen as the leader of Anaya's group, that's why several members of the PAN bench wouldn't agree with him being named as coordinator, because they say there would be problems as his impartiality would be compromised.
