In a statement, the company ADO, recommends practicing Gastronomic Tourism in Mexico , especially in the states of V eracruz, Oaxaca, Hidalgo, and Yucatán.

Veracruz

, it says, is known for having one of the richest cuisines in Mexico . From the traditional “ picadictas ”, similar to sopes , with green salsa or red salsa, cheese, cream, and onion, as well as a large variety of seafood. Toritos are also popular in the state, which is a drink made with peanut butter, milk , ice, and vodka or cane liquor .

Meanwhile,

Oaxaca is known for its moles , which include red, almond, and yellow moles, among many others. Tlayudas are also quite popular, which are large crunchy tortillas , topped with meat, lettuce, cheese, and salsa. Oaxaca is also world famous for its mezcal , coffee , and chocolate .

At the same time, in Hidalgo, you can try the “ pastes ”, from British heritage , that were cooked to feed miners.

But its most famous and traditional dish is barbacoa , which is a Pre-Hispanic dish made of the sheep , which involves wrapping the meat in agave leaves, and then cooked in an underground oven.

The barbacoa can be accompanied with pulque , a drink made from the fermentation of the agave juice.

In Yucatán , the most popular dish is cochinita pibil , which is made with pork marinated in achiote , wrapped in banana leaves and cooked in an underground oven. Lime soup is another traditional dish, which is accompanied with onion, cilantro, and avocado. You can also try Xtabentún , a local liquor that is fermented from a flower.
