Monreal, come back!

The members of the left Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) didn't take long to turn their gaze upon the territories of Ricardo Monreal , former governor of Zacatecas when he still was with the PRD and who is currently the head of the Cuauhtémoc borough, flying under the colors of the far- left National Regeneration Party ( MORENA ). We're told that several members of the PRD national leadership are winking at Mr. Ricardo – who is demanding Andrés Manuel López Obrador cast a second round of votes to chose the candidate for Major to Mexico City – because they want him back in their ranks. You know that the poll made by the MORENA leadership on this matter favored Claudia Sheinbaum and that Monreal has said he couldn't beat the nomenklatura of the party. And now, the PRD is seeing the opportunity to win over a competitive politician for the candidacy to Mexico city and all its members chant: “Monreal, come back!”

Don't you dare believe this is about revenge, but the national leadership of the conservative National Action Party (PAN) , currently under Ricardo Anaya , hasn't ruled out to put in the dock all the senators who have rebelled against the political command issued by the Permanent Commission of the party, against ratifying the automatic appointment of district attorney, Raúl Cervantes, to Attorney General. The PAN members, we're told, may enforce the party's by-laws stating that invalidating a directive of the Permanent Commission may launch a sanctioning proceeding. Well, what do you know with these PAN members, who are already showing signs of trying to break up with their national leader, Ricardo Anaya and his one-sided war against the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). It seems they are also sharpening their knives.

Fernando Herrera, banned

By the way, the parliamentary groups at the Senate will define today, around noon, the distribution of the governmental bodies of the Chamber, amidst a row, or war, the conservative National Action Party (PAN) has sought with the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) , We're told the PRI members have banned the PAN coordinator, Fernando Herrera, from presiding over any important position, given the insults hurled against the PRI national leader, Enrique Ochoa Reza. When Mr. Herrera sprang to the defense of the PAN national leader, Ricardo Anaya, he brawled that the PRI leader was nothing more than a “cheap drunkard”. We're told this quarrel is with Herrera and Herrera alone, not with the rest of the party...whose cracks are already visible.

Meeting at Los Pinos

After noon, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has a very special appointment at Los Pinos in his schedule. Our sources say the Head of the Executive will receive today, in private and at the Residential Palace, the Peace Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai , who is visiting Mexico for the first time. Last July 7, Malala became an active member of Twitter and the Mexican President immediately welcomed her with the following message: “What a great opportunity to follow you on Twitter, @malala! Your life and message are an example and an inspiration for the world. Welcome!” After two days, the laureate finally replied: “My most sincere regards, President @EPN! I look forward to visiting Mexico and meeting your incredible people someday.” It seems that day has finally come, and this Thursday they will greet each other at the presidential palace, we're told.
