Mexican women will commemorate International Women’s Day with protests

In recent years, femicide, harassment, and sexual abuse have reached alarming levels

On March 8 , during International Women’s Day, Mexican women will take the streets to , , harassment, discrimination, and inequality .

Several feminist NGOs and groups are calling women to gather at the Revolution Monument , they will march towards the anti-monument , and then finally reach the Zócalo .

The protest will start at 2 PM but organizers are asking women to arrive at the monument by 1:30 PM.

Others cities joining the March 8 protests are the state of Mexico, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Coahuila, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, Sonora, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yuctán, and Zacatecas .

The date was established as an effort to promote women’s rights , especially the right to vote.

This date is now an important occasion to promote women’s issues and rights, especially in developing countries such as Mexico.

On March 9 , women all over the country will go on a national strike to protest . universities, government departments, banks, stores, and newspapers are showing support and will not implement economic sanctions against the women who miss work to protest.
