Mexican horse Kukulkán to compete at Pegasus World Cup

On January 26 , Kukulkán , a four-year-old bay horse , will participate in the Pegasus World Cup , one of the most important horse races in the world along with the Dubai World Cup .

Kukulkán is the first Mexican horse to have run 14 races undefeated in 75 years . After winning the Caribbean Derby , the horse was invited to compete at a race that will take place in Miami .

Raised at the San Jorge stable , Kukulkán is the first Mexican horse to be invited to such an important race.

The competition will take place at the Gulfstream Park race course in Florida , held over a distance of 1,800 meters .

The Italian expert Frankie Dettori , one of the best jockeys in the world and winner of over 500 races , will be in charge of the horsemanship.

Fausto Gutiérrez, trainer of Kukulkán, pointed out that it was indeed “a quantum leap forward for horse-racing in Mexico.”

"The trainer pointed out that whether Kukulkán wins or loses at the Pegasus Cup, the participation of a Mexican horse in such an important competition was a great achievement in itself.”
